  1. Internship Position in Research Assistance

    • Job Description

    • The Centre for infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and Urban Planning (CiSTUP) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) invites applications for an internship position in research assistance to support our ongoing projects and M Tech Programs. The selected candidate will be responsible for aiding research projects by reviewing literature and summarizing, assisting in drafting research reports and articles, performing data analysis and simulation tasks, assisting in the preparation of teaching materials and taking laboratory courses. Additionally, assistance in projects related to traffic simulation software (VISSIM, SUMO) will be required. Candidate should have the following qualifications:

    • General:

      • The stipend for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree is Rs. 15,000 a month, and for those with/or pursuing a master’s degree is Rs. 20,000 a month. An internship certificate will be provided upon successful completion of the program.
      • Selected candidates will have to arrange their accommodation.
      • Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week, and immediate joining will be given a preference.
      • Preference will be given to candidates who can join immediately and for a longer duration of time.
      • All internship positions are in-person only.
      • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
      • Final year master students are encouraged to apply and explore the opportunities in collaborative thesis work.
      • Selected candidates will have to arrange their accommodation.

    • Eligibility:

      • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s in Transportation Engineering.
      • Experience: Minimum 0-1 years of experience in research projects.
      • Knowledge of traffic and transportation data handling and analysis, Hands-on VISSIM experience, Publications in journals or conference papers are additional advantages.
      • Technical Skills: Technical writing, MS Word-PowerPoint-Excel, Data Analysis Tools, Python/MATLAB, VISSIM.
      • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Transportation Engineering Courses (Traffic Flow Theory, Traffic Safety and Management, Geometric Design).
      • Technical Skills: Language Proficiency: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

  2. Internship Position in Data Analysis and Visualization

    • General:

      • Stipend: ₹15,000/month for bachelor's students and ₹20,000/month for master's students. Certificate provided upon successful completion.

    • Eligibility:

    • Roles and Responsibility

      • Prepare and manage data: Collect, clean, transform, and merge real-world data from various sources to create structured datasets.
      • Design and maintain dashboards:Build and update interactive dashboards that support decision-making, ensuring accuracy and consistency of all visuals and indicators.
      • Stakeholder engagement and documentation: Coordinate with stakeholders to identify data needs, collect field or institutional data, define key metrics, and maintain proper documentation of sources and processes.
      • Research-oriented background (preferred): Candidates with an interest in data-driven research, analysis, or academic insights will be given preference.

    • Skillset:

      • Experience with Power BI /Tableau/ other visualization tools is mandatory.
      • Strong in SQL, with working knowledge of data models, Excel, and data cleaning.
      • Able to handle data from multiple sources; experience in data scraping and knowledge of Python/R, GIS, and AWS are added advantages.
      • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

      • GIS Mapping: Create visualizations using GIS tools.
      • Documentation: Prepare reports and coordinate with stakeholders.

    • Skillset:

      • Traffic Analysis:Experience in volume counts, data analysis, and traffic projects.
      • Computer Vision:Knowledge of YOLO or similar tools is a plus.

    • Skillset:
